Born in Norwich, Manning joined the Blues after a brief spell with the Canaries, spending a year as a professional player before being released in 2005.
After finishing his playing career, which was based in non-league and abroad in Iceland, he returned to Ipswich in 2015 as an academy coach before moving on to West Ham.

He had subsequent spells as manager of Lommel, MK Dons and Oxford United before taking the Bristol City job in 2023, guiding them to last season's Championship play-offs, where they were beaten 6-0 on aggregate by Sheffield United in the semi-finals.

Manning has since opted to depart Ashton Gate, returning to Norfolk to manage Norwich, who finished 13th in the second tier last season.
It means that the 39-year-old will lead the Canaries into next season's East Anglian derbies against former club Ipswich, looking to preserve their unbeaten run in the fixture.
