A number of players will be leaving Wolves in the coming weeks – and Sunderland are now hopeful of landing one of the fringe players at Molineux.
Wolves have already sold Matheus Cunha, and Pablo Sarabia is confirmed to be leaving as a free agent.
Rayan Ait-Nouri could be next to depart with Manchester City interested and confident of wrapping up a deal very soon.
But Wanderers could be offloading a number of fringe players as well this summer.
And one man who has certainly been on the fringes at Wolves is Tommy Doyle.
Doyle enjoyed some good showings last season during his loan spell, but minutes in 2024/25 were pretty hard to come by for the Englishman due to consistency of Joao Gomes and Andre.
Doyle has had Championship interest for a while now, but it’s possible he could actually leave Wolves but stay in the Premier League.

It’s been reported by TEAMtalk that newly promoted Premier League side Sunderland now have their eyes on Doyle.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
The Black Cats are said to want to strengthen the spine of their team, and see Doyle as a means of doing that.
Sunderland actually showed interest in Doyle a few months ago. But Wolves did not sanction any January move, potentially over fears about squad depth having lost key players to injury in the second half of the 2023/24 season.
It’s stated Doyle could be available for as little as £3 million if Sunderland were to buy him.
It is worth noting that if Doyle sold for this much money, Wolves would only see £1.5 million of that due to the 50% sell-on clause that Manchester City hold on him.
Newly promoted Championship side Wrexham are also showing interest in Doyle, but it’s Sunderland who are in the ‘box seat’ to sign the England youth international.
Wolves should loan Doyle out
It has been a real shame to see how it’s gone for Doyle at Wolves.
He is a good player, and former Wolves winger Mark Kennedy branded Doyle ‘outstanding’ when he first signed. But has been stuck behind two truly superb players in Gomes and Andre.
Sadly for him, he does not seem to be a player Vitor Pereira particularly rates.
Under the Portuguese, Doyle has made just 12 Premier League appearances – only one of which was a start. Most of these appearances were mere cameos at the end of games.

Doyle did not play a single minute in Wolves’ final nine Premier League games and did not make the squad on five occasions.
Pereira admitted he found it difficult to leave Doyle out, so it seems highly unlikely that he will stick around.
But Wolves should not sell Doyle this summer. Surely there is scope to loan him so that he can increase his market value, a bit like Fabio Silva has done.
