Kevin De Bruyne’s Man City career will come to an end this month.

After ten very successful years at the Etihad Stadium, the Belgian will depart the Manchester club when his contract expires at the end of June, after it was decided by the Premier League club’s hierarchy that they would not offer the 33-year-old a new deal.

The Man City legend hoped to remain in Europe next season, and the midfielder has got his wish as De Bruyne has decided that he will continue his career with Napoli, with the transfer expected to get across the line soon.

A slight setback was reported by many outlets on Monday, however, Fabrizio Romano has cleared up the situation that surrounds the 33-year-old superstar.

De Bruyne’s family are said to be thrilled with their move to Napoli, which was a key factor for the Belgian in choosing where he would play next, having spent 10 years in Manchester.

The Italian champions will also give De Bruyne the chance to play in the Champions League next season, which creates the possibility of playing against Man City, while the 33-year-old already has a positive record against the club he is now joining.

Kevin De Bruyne’s record against Napoli

De Bruyne has faced Napoli on three occasions in the past as Man City were in the same group as the Italian side during the 2017/18 edition of the Champions League.

The Manchester club defeated the Serie A giants on both occasions, winning 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium, while being involved in an entertaining 4-2 victory in Naples.

De Bruyne grabbed an assist in both games, with the Belgian’s only loss against his potential new club coming in 2015 as the Man City legend would lose in the first leg of a Europa League quarter-final tie 4-1.

This next chapter of De Bruyne’s career looks set to be an exciting one as the midfielder showed towards the end of the season that he can still play at the highest level, which will now be aided by joining a slower but more tactical league.
