Dan Purdy left Everton to join Rangers on Monday.
The Blues’ head of recruitment has linked up with former sporting director Kevin Thelwell, who has also made the switch to Ibrox.
The 31-year-old was highly rated at Goodison Park, and it is believed that the Friedkin Group wanted him to stick around, but they will now have to find a replacement.

Everton set to poach Manchester City chief
The Toffees are set for a major overhaul on and off the pitch this summer as Angus Kinnear puts the finishing touches to his recruitment team.
A report from The Athletic (3 June) claims that Manchester City’s director of scouting and recruitment, James Smith, is a possible appointment option.
However, it states that while he is a leading contender for the role, no agreement has been reached between the teams.

Friedkin era is shaping up at Everton
The changes on the blue half of Merseyside signal an exciting start to the new era as the new ownership has brought in several talented operators behind the scenes.
Kinnear was a major capture from Leeds United and he came to the Blues with a reputation for being an astute football businessman from his time at Elland Road.
If they could nab a member of Pep Guardiola’s recruitment team, it would be a major coup given that they have been serial winners in recent years.
The Citizens have won four of the last five Premier League titles in an era where they have dominated English football, so poaching any of their staff, especially those involved with scouting, is a huge move.
The Friedkins look like they are setting Everton up for a successful push ahead of the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
It is an exciting time to be a Blues supporter after years of misery under the ownership of Farhad Moshiri and the management of Sean Dyche.
Now, work begins on identifying transfer targets and securing deals to improve David Moyes‘ squad ahead of a crucial season, where he is aiming for a European qualification berth rather than a relegation battle.
