49ers Pick Used to Trade for Bryce Huff Revealed

The San Francisco 49ers recently made a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire star edge rusher Bryce Huff.

But what did they give up in order to get him.

It was initially reported that the Niners gave up a mid-round pick, but according to a recent report by Jonathon Jones of CBS Sports, it is a conditional fifth-round pick. ... and it could also become a fourth-rounder depending on how Huff performs.

The 27-year-old edge rusher had a disappointing season in his one year with the Eagles, but it was because he did not quite fit into defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's scheme.

Despite that, the Niners have no doubt that he can get the job done.

Huff is just two seasons removed from having his breakout season in 2023 in his last year with the New York Jets. He racked up 10 sacks and 29 total tackles, with 10 of them being for a loss. But even when he was not bringing down the opposing quarterbacks, he was still getting to them, as he had an impressive 21 QB hits.

The Niners brought back Robert Saleh to be their defensive coordinator, who was Huff's head coach with the Jets. If his 2023 season is any indication of what he will do now that he is back with Saleh, then the 49ers made the right move.

San Francisco missed the playoffs this past season with a 6-11 record, so Huff and the rest of the team's defense will be looking to help lead the team to the postseason to redeem themselves.
