The Washington Commanders recently started OTAs, but there has been a very notable player that has not been in attendance.
Star wide receiver Terry McLaurin is in the last year of his contract, so he has opted out of team practice at the moment. But in a recent interview, Commanders young quarterback Jayden Daniels seemed confident that his biggest weapon from 2024 is still putting in the work.
"Me and Terry have a good relationship outside of football,” Daniels said. "Obviously, he has to handle what he has to handle but that doesn’t change anything, the fact that he is part of our brotherhood. We know Terry is working and everything. We have to get better and he knows he has to get better each and every day."
Despite McLaurin not showing up to practice, Daniels does not seem to think there is a possibility that his teammate will not be back with the team soon. The star QB should hope that the receiver comes back, because they were quite the duo in 2024.
The 29-year-old receiver finished this past season with 1,096 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, which is the most that McLaurin has gotten into the end zone in his career.
Washington is trying to contend with the likes of the Philadelphia Eagles in the very competitive NFC East, so getting their star wide receiver back will be a relief. But Daniels does not seem too worries, and is looking forward to getting on the field for a second season with McLaurin.
