Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has argued that Manchester United must choose between backing Ruben Amorim or keeping one attacking talent at Old Trafford.
The summer transfer window officially opened in June and Manchester United have wasted no time in already sending a statement of intent in their business.
United agreed to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves after the Red Devils triggered the £62.5m release clause in the 26-year-old Brazil international’s contract.
The Red Devils are expected to make further signings and United have been linked with Bryan Mbeumo, with the Brentford star reportedly keen to sign for the club.
Ruben Amorim is tipped for a major overhaul of the United first-team squad in the summer transfer window ahead of the 2025-26 season at Old Trafford.

Gary Neville sends a major message to Man Utd about Alejandro Garnacho and Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford
Alongside the arrival of new Manchester United signings, Ruben Amorim is expected to make a clear-out of the Red Devils first-team squad before the summer is out.
Alejandro Garnacho has been a key first-team player under Amorim, but the Red Devils talent’s long-term future has been shrouded in mystery in recent weeks.
The 20-year-old Spain-born attacker pulled no punches in his scathing criticism after United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the 2025 Europa League final in Bilbao.
Garnacho was frustrated with being left out of the United starting XI against Tottenham and dropped hints about his future at Old Trafford after Amorim’s call.
The United winger has also been met with criticism for his activities on social media, including his brother, Roberto, slamming the decision to drop Garnacho for the final.
Speaking on The Overlap US, Gary Neville has insisted that Amorim “has to win” at United in the situation involving Red Devils star Garnacho.
“I think if players are taking on the manager and if players are questioning the manager in public through social media or through other means, the manager has to win,” he said on the ‘It’s Called Soccer!’ show.
“If the manager doesn’t win, the manager has to leave and I don’t think that’s going to happen this time. That’s happened far too many times before.
“I think Garnacho will leave purely because of that, I think they’ve had enough. Garnacho can play in the Premier League, no doubt, but I think he’ll love it in Spain, he’ll thrive over there, he’ll score goals.”

Gary Neville makes his feelings clear about Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford after the criticism of Ruben Amorim’s decision
United legend Neville has admitted that he feels the writing is on the wall for Alejandro Garnacho and the Red Devils should offload the Argentina international.
“He’ll probably be someone next season that we’re all looking back on thinking, ‘Why didn’t Manchester United keep him?’ That type of thing will probably happen, there’s an element of that, but I think he has to go.
“That’s not me throwing my toys out the pram and saying, ‘Get him out the club!’ […] No, for him and the club, I think it’s right that he goes.
“Those four players [Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Garnacho] should leave, not just because Manchester United should let them go, but because they should go and find themselves a place in their lives where they can go and play football because it’s not at Old Trafford.”
Garnacho, who is under contract with United until 2028, netted 11 times and registered 10 assists in 58 matches across all competitions in the 2024-25 season.
