The Giants traded back into the first round of this year’s draft to address their future under center by selecting quarterback Jaxson Dart. Now, he’s getting some advice from a particularly notable former New York signal caller.
Eli Manning told CBS Sports that he’s already given the rookie some advice.
“I’ve told him, hey, I’m here to help in any way. I’m a phone call away, a text away, but I’m not getting in the way,” Manning said. “You got to figure out, this is your journey, this is your deal. But if there’s anything you need, happy to be here.”
“I’ve been to some practices, and I’ve known Jaxson for the last three years, since he’s been at Ole Miss and gotten to watch his career. So I’ve been just impressed with Jaxson, because I’ve seen him get better every single year,” Manning said. “And that’s what you want your players to do, to make improvements -- even though you’re playing well, not being content and wanting to make those improvements every day. So I’ve kind of seen that.”
In his senior season at Ole Miss, Dart threw for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns and six interceptions while adding 495 rushing yards and three more touchdowns on the ground.
Dart was the second quarterback selected in this year’s draft after Cam Ward, who went first overall to the Titans. To select Dart at No. 25, Giants general manager Joe Schoen surrendered two third-round picks (including one in 2026).
