Manchester United’s transfer business is gathering serious momentum as Ruben Amorim presses on with his ambitious rebuild.

The new manager has made it clear he wants attacking reinforcements brought in early, with several outgoing deals – including Jadon Sancho and Antony – expected to clear space for new arrivals.

The Red Devils sealed the signing of Matheus Cunha earlier this week in a £62.5 million deal from Wolves, bringing in a dynamic forward who was long seen as priority No 1.

But Cunha isn’t the only forward on Amorim’s radar.

United have also ramped up efforts to sign Bryan Mbeumo, who is coming off the best season of his career with 20 goals and 7 assists for Brentford.

With the Cameroon international able to play across the front three and even in midfield, he’s viewed as a key tactical fit for United’s evolving system.

Mbeumo’s desire to join United is said to be strong – and that’s where things have started to go south.

Brentford unhappy with Bryan Mbeumo pursuit

According to Nathan Salt of the Daily Mail, Brentford are growing increasingly frustrated with the way the Mbeumo pursuit has unfolded publicly.

Reports suggesting the player has already decided on a move to Old Trafford have not gone down well with the Bees’ hierarchy.

Especially given that no agreement on a fee has been struck yet.

The tension stems from how open the links have been, despite the lack of progress behind the scenes.

Brentford want more than £60 million for Mbeumo and are digging in after seeing how eager the player is to push for a transfer.

With no release clause in place, Brentford hold the leverage.

Though the fact Mbeumo’s deal has just a year left (with an option for another) also adds a layer of pressure.

United, for their part, are hoping to pay in installments to manage their wider summer budget and push through multiple signings.

Personal terms with Mbeumo won’t be an issue, but the challenge remains agreeing a structure that Brentford accept.

Still, Amorim wants his squad in place as early as possible ahead of pre-season.

United are confident that Mbeumo’s desire to move will eventually help push the deal over the line.

But with Brentford unhappy and publicly resisting pressure, this saga is far from over.

United’s next steps will need to be both smart and respectful if they are to avoid losing ground in what’s become one of the window’s more delicate negotiations.
