Gustavo Hamer could complete a switch to West Ham from Sheffield United this summer.

The 27-year-old was once again on the losing side of a play-off final as the Blades suffered a last-minute Wembley defeat against Sunderland.

This is likely to end in a number of departures from Bramall Lane, with the Dutchman likely to have the largest number of suitors.

The London Stadium could emerge as a potential destination for Hamer as his agent looks to find a destination away from Yorkshire for his client.

West Ham could agree Hamer move with agent

As the main part of the summer window looms, there is bound to be a number of options assessed by Graham Potter and his team.

The midfield could become a key area for recruitment after the departure of Carlos Soler at the end of his loan spell from PSG at the end of the campaign.

This will especially be the case if Tomas Soucek were to move on and leave a hole in the Irons’ squad in terms of ability in forward areas.

This could see a move for the Championship Player of the Year, Hamer, make complete sense after the Blades missed out on promotion.

Former Brentford and Leicester City manager Martin Allen believes the midfielder’s agent will be working behind the scenes to complete a Premier League move, with the London Stadium emerging as a potential destination.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “Hamer is a good player, he could cover that Paqueta role behind the striker.

“He’s quick, incisive, he makes goals, and he scores goals.

“He would certainly be one that, if you were looking around those clubs who haven’t been promoted, you’d certainly be looking at to bring into your team for next season.

“The player will be keen to play in the Premier League, and his agent will be working extremely hard behind the scenes to see if he can find a club for him.

“How much would he be?

“*I think you could probably get him out of there for £20m, I don’t think Sheffield United could ask for more than that.*“

Hamer could shine for West Ham

There is no doubt that the Irons are in need of change moving into the new Premier League campaign after such a frustrating season.

This needs to start with a positive window of business, especially after the failings of Tim Steidten nearly 12 months ago in East London.

A move for Hamer could kickstart the window in excellent fashion, given his quality and ability on the ball going forward and back.

His box-to-back showings with both Sheffield United and Coventry City will cause excitement among supporters, especially as a replacement for the outgoing Soler.
