The Colombia faces an uncertain future at Anfield. Diaz is a fan favourite and he’s been essential to Liverpool’s success over the course of the season.

He’s scored hat-tricks and found the back of the net in key moments while also dazzling us with his silky feet.
But the fact of the matter is that he’s 28-years-old and approaching the final two years of his current deal.
Diaz is rightfully seeking a big contract but Liverpool are reluctant to break their financial model in order to give him what he deserves.

Instead, the club may be tempted to accept a lucrative offer for his services instead. Anfield Watch understands a number of clubs from Europe and Saudi Arabia are monitoring his situation and are ready to strike.
But if Diaz leaves, who will come in to replace him?
Liverpool already know the perfect candidate. It’s 20-year-old Malick Fofana who has shown this season he’s ready to make the step-up to a club like Liverpool.
Fofana is young and raw but he’s able to make an impact in games.
He averages 6.37 progressive runs per 90 minutes this season, which only a handful of players in Europe’s top five leagues can better.
Among them are Jeremy Doku, Savio, Noni Madueke, Vinicius Junior and Ousmane Dembele.
These are all elite players playing for some of the best clubs in European football and Fofana has proven this season that he’s among them.
There are areas of his game he could improve. At this moment he doesn’t provide enough creativity, and he can be better with his final pass, but who cares about that when Florian Wirtz is coming in who excels in exactly those situations.
What Fofana would add is speed and a brilliant one vs one ability.
He’s one of a kind in that sense. And he can put the ball away as well, averaging 0.47 goals per 90 which ranks him in the 89th percentile as per FBref.

Fofana is young, exciting and wouldn’t break the bank for Liverpool. He’s ready to replace Diaz in the team if the Colombian departs and we would not be surprised to see the Reds make a move for him.
