Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder is about to fight for his first NBA championship and show the world that his team is the best in the league.
This has been a miracle of a season for the reigning MVP.
No matter what happens next, he has cemented a place for himself in Thunder history.
Discussing the young star on “Speak,” Paul Pierce said that Gilgeous-Alexander would be the greatest Thunder player of all time if he wins a championship.
“A championship for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will not only make him the greatest Thunder, it ensures his statue at the tender age of 26. If he ever leaves Oklahoma City after this year, best believe they’re going to put a statue of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for giving OKC their first NBA Championship, which I believe will happen. He’s been unstoppable in these playoffs. He’s had an unbelievable run. I looked up the last time that somebody not only won the scoring title, MVP, and a title, so he’s on an incredible run,” Pierce said, via Legion Hoops.

It’s hard to argue with Pierce’s claims because Gilgeous-Alexander really has made that sort of impact on the Thunder and its fanbase.
During his six years with the team, he has taken them from the bottom of the Western Conference to four wins away from a championship.
He has averaged 27.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.5 assists during that time and has become one of the best players in the league.
Thunder fans have been waiting for this moment for many years, and they knew that Gilgeous-Alexander would be at the center of it.
They would love to see him earn a title, but even if he doesn’t, they will be eternally grateful and love what he has achieved.
This has been a sensational season for the young star, one for the record books.
Will it end with Gilgeous-Alexander becoming a champion?
