Titans Cut Ties With Promising Rookie to Make Room for Ex-Eagles RB

The Tennessee Titans struggled on offense during the 2024 NFL season under head coach Brian Callahan. Quarterback Will Levis led the Titans to being a bottom-five scoring unit thanks to his 12 interceptions and 10 fumbles.

However, Tennessee's rushing attack was surprisingly strong. They finished middle of the pack in almost every metric, and could have been better if the team was not trailing in almost every game.

Tony Pollard ran for 1,079 yards and Tyjae Spears added 312 in an injury-riddled campaign. Julius Chestnut supplemented these two at times last year, and the Titans also added Michigan running back Kalel Mullings in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

While many felt that these four players would comprise the running back room, the team also added former Utah running back Micah Bernard as an undrafted free agent. On Monday, the team continued to build the room, signing former Eagles running back Ty Davis-Price to a two-year deal.

Unfortunately, the team had to make a corresponding move to make room for Davis-Price. NFL Insider Aaron Wilson reported that the team chose to waive Bernard after just a few practices during the team's offseason program.

During his six-year career at Utah, Bernard totaled 2,217 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, as well as 770 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. Due to his dual-threat nature, he could have posed a threat to Spears for snaps in passing situations.

Instead, the team chose to part ways with him in favor of Davis-Price, who was a third-round pick in 2022. Davis-Price will now look to compete for a spot in the Titans' running back room, whereas Bernard will look for another opportunity elsewhere.
