The Dallas Cowboys are keeping the door open—and the lines of communication active—with star pass rusher Micah Parsons.
On Tuesday, head coach Brian Schottenheimer offered a key update, telling reporters that he expects Parsons to report to next week’s mandatory minicamp, despite the All-Pro defender still being without a long-term deal.
“I would assume,” Schottenheimer said. “Micah and I talked a couple days ago. He’s doing a little bit of traveling. But everything he and I have talked about, I expect that he will be here.”
Parsons, one of the NFL’s most disruptive defensive players, is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
While there's been growing speculation about his future—and even whispers of a possible trade if an extension isn't reached—Schottenheimer emphasized that the team and player remain on the same page for now.
“Micah and I have had great communication,” he added. “Everything I’ve asked him to do, and vice versa, he’s followed through on.”
That’s important context with mandatory minicamp approaching, where players can be fined for skipping out.
Parsons has been notably absent during voluntary OTAs, choosing to train and travel independently this offseason.
His absence has sparked questions about whether he’s sending a message to the front office regarding contract talks.
So far, however, both sides are keeping things respectful.

Still, the clock is ticking.
The Cowboys would love to lock Parsons into a long-term deal before he hits the open market—but if talks stall, trade rumors could heat up quickly.
For now, though, Dallas expects Parsons to show up next week.
