West Ham Lead Race for Belgian Striker Lucas Stassin
According to French website L’Équipe, West Ham are leading the chase to sign highly-rated AS Saint-Étienne striker Lucas Stassin.
The 20-year-old Belgian was one of the few bright spots in a difficult campaign for the related team who went straight back to Ligue 2 after just one season in Ligue 1.

That hasn’t deterred a host of suitors across Europe and according to the report, RB Leipzig, Wolves, and Sporting CP—are also monitoring the 6ft striker.
But West Ham have reportedly taken the lead. Reportedly, talks have already been held with Saint-Étienne over a payment structure for a possible transfer, and apparently the Hammers have also spoken to Stassin’s camp regarding personal terms.
The young forward is very much a traditional target man, but he’s no slouch with the ball at his feet and scores a fair number of goals that way too. he has been labelled in France and Belgium as ‘the complete striker’ so no pressure there then.
This potential move lines-up neatly with recent reports from ExWHUEmployee, who claimed West Ham would be targeting Belgian and Danish markets more heavily following the appointment of recruitment chief Kyle Macaulay.
We’ll have to wait and see if there is any truth in this one but it would certainly be an improvement on being linked with over the hill journeyman strikers. And if anything, the chance to headline blogs with ‘Stassin the Assassin’ would be no bad thing either.
As always, C&H will contact our usual sources to see if there is a whiff of truth in any of this.
