Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has reportedly been offered to French Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco so that he can return to football.
Now 32, Pogba has not played competitively since August 2023 - little over a year after his second spell at Old Trafford came to an end. At that time he was playing for Juventus in Italy when a failed doping test resulted in a four-year ban from the sport, seemingly ending his career, though this was later reduced to 18 months.
The former Man United star has actually been eligible to play since March of this year, but despite constantly providing updates of his training, has not actually signed for a new club.
That could soon change after Foot Mercato reported that Monaco are the ones trying to tempt Pogba back into professional football.
This would leave the Monegasques with a decision to make if they wish to add Pogba to their ranks having finished third in Ligue 1 and qualified for next season's Champions League. It is pointed out they are seeking a 'talented' midfielder, though it's unclear if Pogba will be able to rediscover his past form after so long out.
Throughout the 2018 World Cup winner's absence, he's made clear he wishes to return at the highest possible level.
He has been frequently linked with a third spell at Old Trafford, moves to one of Saudi Arabia or the United States and a return to France has also been mooted.
When quizzed on where contract proposals have already come from, Pogba said in April: "From all over. I want to see what suits me best. Because I'm in a crucial period of my life and career. It's a decision I'm going to take the time to consider."
Playing in his French homeland, something the 32-year-old has surprisingly never done in his career, would ensure that national team manager Didier Deschamps can keep a closer watch, amid Pgba's hopes to return to the fold for selection.
Another possibility mentioned previously was joining Marseille, however it is said they are unlikely to want Pogba, thus ruling out a reunion with former Old Trafford teammate Mason Greenwood.
