Man City close to agreeing deal for Serie A midfielder

Having guided his side to Champions League qualification, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will already be busy trying to fine-tune his squad ahead of next season.

The Citizens were hoping to win the Premier League for a record fifth consecutive time, but a dismal run of form midway through the season destroyed those hopes.

At one stage, Guardiola’s side looked set to miss out on European qualification altogether, however an improved run of form in the final weeks of the campaign saw City eventually finish third, behind only champions Liverpool and second-placed Arsenal.

Despite their improvement in the latter part of the season, Guardiola will still be keen to bolster his squad this summer.

With that in mind, it appears that Man City are closing in on a huge summer signing.

As per Fabrizio Romano, City are edging closer to a deal to sign midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from Italian giants AC Milan.

Romano claims that the Citizens have already agreed personal terms with the 26-year-old, and are now working to find an agreement with the player’s current club.

Reijnders joined Milan from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2023 and has since made more than 100 appearances for the Italian giants across all competitions.

He played 54 times for the Italian side across all competitions last term, scoring 15 goals.

It is claimed that the midfielder could join City prior to the Club World Cup, which is set to take place in the United States later this month.

The Netherlands international is under contract with Milan until the end of the 2029/30 campaign, but Romano suggests that he will likely be on his way out of the club this summer.
