Steven Crowl attends NBA workout for team with Wisconsin ties

We'll soon find out where former Badger John Tonje will be headed, with the NBA Draft now just a few weeks away, but there is another Badger who has been plenty busy as well. Center Steven Crowl had already done a few workouts for NBA teams, and just had another one on Monday with a team that would be a very interesting landing spot.

According to [Cody Taylor of USA Today and RookieWire](https://therookiewire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/rookie/2025/05/23/2025-nba-draft-workout-tracker/83487942007/), Crowl recently held a workout with the Charlotte Hornets. While Crowl is unlikely to be drafted, he could end up with a team after the event, or even potentially as a G-League player. The Hornets would be particularly interesting as they drafted one of the best Wisconsin centers of all-time 10 years ago.

Steven Crowl has intriguing workout with a team very familiar with Wisconsin players

In 2015, the Hornets selected Frank Kaminsky with ninth overall pick. He went to have a long NBA career and finished with over 400 career games over nine seasons. Crowl could potentially follow in his footsteps with a similar player mold as a big man with long range shooting ability. The scouting department has surely undergone some change, but Crowl may still fit the bill for a player that can play inside and out in what has become a necessity for today's NBA. Interestingly, Crowl's former teammate Chucky Hepburn also attended the workout in Charlotte as well.

Crowl has also had workouts with the Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets as he tries to find a home in the NBA. So far he is the only other known Badger other than Tonje and Blackwell to have attended NBA workouts.
