Report: £9m manager wants Tottenham job after holding positive talks to replace Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur may have been given a huge boost in their bid to land Brentford boss Thomas Frank in the coming weeks, according to reports - with the Danish gaffer thought to be 'interested' in taking to the north London throne should Greek-Australian boss Ange Postecoglou receive the boot after a dismal campaign in domestic competitions.

Frank has been with Brentford for seven years, being their most successful manager by far in their history after earning promotion to the Premier League, but the chance to move up to a 'Big Six' team and manage in the Champions League is massively appealing to him and that could see him jump ship.

The report by Football Insider states that Frank is interested in the Tottenham job, after initial talks were held in recent days amid doubts over Postecoglou's future.

The Bees boss has arguably been the most impressive manager in the entirety of the Premier League over the past four years, taking the west London outfit from the Championship in 2021 to two top-half finishes and zero relegation worries in any of his campaigns as boss - with the closest Brentford have finished to the drop zone being 11 points back in 2021-22, where they finished 13th.

Postecoglou, according to reports, is still set to be sacked despite winning the Europa League, following his 17th-placed finish in the top-flight with a Spurs squad that he led to fifth with last season - and Frank has emerged as a potential target, despite his £9million release clause.

The Dane supposedly fears that Brentford will be forced to sell their best players once again in the summer transfer window, which he has had to deal with throughout his time at the club - and that could see him join Spurs, who will be flush with cash after their qualification for the Champions League.

Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly chosen Manchester United and Ruben Amorim as his favoured destination, and with Yoane Wissa also picking up interest, there is set to be yet another rebuild in west London, having seen other international stars such as Ollie Watkins, David Raya and Ivan Toney leave the club during his time in charge.
