Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt attacking sensation Hugo Ekitike.
According to a report from L’Equipe, Chelsea are keen on reinforcing their attack ahead of next season and they have their eyes set on Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike. The Blues want a striker on a priority basis and they have stepped up their efforts to bring the Frenchman to Stamford Bridge this summer.
While things didn’t go according to plan for Ekitike at PSG, he has certainly got his career back on track since joining the German outfit. He initially joined them on a short loan deal at the start of 2024 before the move became permanent that summer.
In his first full season with Frankfurt, the 22-year-old has certainly put in some impressive performances. He has been involved in a total of 48 matches and has contributed towards 34 goals (22 goals, 12 assists).
His performances haven’t gone unnoticed and there is a lot of interest in his signature heading into the summer. While the 22-year-old will miss the Under-21 Euros because of back pain, he is considering his future as he looks to get back to full fitness.
Chelsea to go all out for Ekitike
Chelsea have emerged as a potential destination for the youngster. The Blues want a new striker who can compete with Nicolas Jackson for a place in the starting XI and they consider Ekitike an ideal fit for Enzo Maresca’s system.
He is a perfect fit for their project, which revolves around signing the best young stars in the world and despite the high cost of the operation, the Blues are looking to go all out for his signature. They stepped up their efforts to sign the 22-year-old on Monday and are hoping to get a breakthrough in the near future.
The German club value him at a massive £84 million and with his contract running until the summer of 2029, they are unlikely to offer any discounts to the London club. While that’s a sizeable price tag, the Blues do tend to go big when they are certain about signing a certain player.
