'I hope': Simon Jordan has one key worry about Bryan Mbeumo picking Manchester United over…

Bryan Mbeumo wants to join Manchester United rather than Newcastle United.

That is the reality that Newcastle United are facing up to, as they prepare to miss out on another top target.

Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Newcastle felt Bryan Mbeumo was too expensive, with Brentford looking to receive a fee similar to what Manchester United paid for Matheus Cunha.

It is a blow for the Magpies, who must look elsewhere for a new right winger. Despite being in the Champions League and the riches that brings, they are not going to be able to bring Mbeumo to St James’ Park.

Simon Jordan reacts to Bryan Mbeumo’s transfer decision

Mbeumo’s decision has frustrated Newcastle fans, and former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan believes it says a lot about the pulling power that Manchester United still have despite their recent struggles.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Jordan spoke about the 25-year-old wanting to leave Brentford for Manchester United rather than a club like Newcastle United, Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur.

“I think it confirms that there is still a huge amount of pull that Man United have,” he said.

“I think we’re going to see that things are always darkest before the dawn. Man United, in order to bounce back, had to hit the bottom. They hit the bottom in the Europa League final because I think they were abject in that final when they could have got an outcome that may have salvaged their season.

“They’ve been abject in the Premier League. They have got a group of players that don’t seem to understand the reality of the responsibilities for playing for Manchester United.

“It might also suggest some of the players spoken to don’t see themselves tactically fitting into the formations of certain clubs or maybe not think they are going to get the game-time.

Jordan added: “I hope it’s not because Man United were prepared to pay more money financially for the transfer or the wages, because we saw how that played out with Alexis Sanchez.”

Newcastle United to move for Bryan Mbeumo alternative

Not for the first time this summer, Newcastle United are missing out on a major signing.

But, not for the first time, Newcastle United will have alternatives on their radar.

That will be the situation when it comes to bringing in a right winger. It certainly will not have been a case of Mbeumo or bust.

It remains to be seen who the Magpies will prioritise next. Domestically, the likes of Antoine Semenyo at Bournemouth and West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus have been linked.

However, Toon officials could look further afield.

The i Paper have reported that Newcastle have alternatives to Mbeumo that are based overseas.

That could be a riskier avenue that the Magpies go down. On the one hand, players from overseas can sometimes take longer to settle in. On the contrary, they represent greater value compared to Premier League players.
