Liverpool have been linked with a whole host of players already this summer.
Jeremie Frimpong has confirmed his Anfield switch, and it now also seems like it’s a matter of when, not if, for the arrival of Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.
Liverpool were already one of the hardest teams to beat in the Premier League during the 2024-25 season, but with players such as Frimpong and Wirtz now being added to their ranks, it’s hard to see how they won’t be dominant once again.

Indeed, there are still a couple of areas within Liverpool’s squad that need upgrading, but at the moment, it feels like the Reds have their focus set on getting Wirtz over the line, which, while all well and good, could put them at a bit of a disadvantage as the window goes on.
Hugo Ekitike hasn’t said yes to Chelsea amid Liverpool interest
One area within Arne Slot’s team that could do with an upgrade is the striker.
Indeed, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have done a phenomenal job of filling in, even though it’s not their natural position, but if the Anfield outfit had an out-and-out striker who could bag 20 goals per season, they’d be much better off.
And, as per a new report from Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law, it seems that the transfer of Hugo Ekitike could still be on the cards.
The report outlines that there is ‘nothing imminent’ regarding Ekitike’s move to Chelsea and that there has been ‘no agreement’ reached.

‘Told the Liam Delap transfer to Chelsea is now complete but that there is nothing imminent regarding Hugo Ekitike at this stage,’ he wrote via his personal X account.
‘No agreement reached and Chelsea still considering options and targets. Ekitike one of those options and targets.’
Liverpool could do much worse than Hugo Ekitike
Ekitike has had a breakout season with Eintracht Frankfurt this term and has quickly become one of their most important players.
A couple of seasons ago, the striker was being linked with a big-money move to Newcastle before they decided to go with Alexander Isak instead.
The fact that his former Reims manager, Oscar Garcia, labelled him a “special” player outlines how much potential he had, even when he was making his first steps into professional football.

DFB Pokal 3 3 1
The 2024-25 season of Hugo Ekitike in numbers.
These numbers alone show that the Frenchman is a force to be reckoned with, and the fact that he’s only 22 makes the thought of a deal even nicer.
As Ekitike is still young, it means that he has plenty of room to develop, and while he may have only had one prolific season, he’s certainly taking steps in the right direction to become a world-class player.
However, unless Slot can find a few players to sell on this summer, their spending will more than likely have to stop when Wirtz and Kerkez are brought in.
