'He may have to go': Gary Neville says it's time for 'intriguing' player to leave Man City now

For Manchester City to be able to execute a successful squad rebuild, they will have to be ruthless in the summer and take prompt decisions.

A failure to act quickly could lead to Pep Guardiola and his troops having yet another underwhelming campaign as their domestic rivals like Liverpool and Arsenal leave them behind.

Guardiola took responsibility for Kevin De Bruyne’s exit and at the time, the Catalan boss’ call may have been viewed as harsh but the midfield maestro, who turns 34 in June next year might be past his best.

Bernardo Silva could sign for Benfica as well as it has been reported that City have informed the 31-year-old that they are ready to part ways with him in the summer.

Jack Grealish could follow De Bruyne as well as Bernardo out of the door at Manchester City as his future seems increasingly uncertain at present.

Tottenham are keen on signing Grealish but there is interest from abroad as well.

Napoli are tracking Grealish as well as he might have to determine whether staying in England or playing his football outside the Premier League would be the best decision for his career.

Regardless of where the England international ends up, Gary Neville claimed on The Overlap US’ podcast, It’s Called Soccer that it is time for Grealish to bid farewell to Manchester City: It looks like [Grealish will leave Manchester City] it. I mean, he [Pep Guardiola] sort of didn’t want to answer the question about him near the end, did he? He sort of like said, I’m not answering any more questions about Jack but you’ll always, while Jack’s there, have to answer questions about Jack.”

“Jack is an intriguing character for the English media, English football. He’s the type of player that we all fall in love with as a character, a personality, not many of them around. But it looks like he may have to go and play football somewhere else.”

Man City’s asking price for Jack Grealish

Pep Guardiola admitted he sanctioned Grealish’s arrival but it seems like things have gone south for the 29-year-old at the Etihad Stadium.

Ahead of the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United in 2024, Guardiola had a chat with Grealish where the latter promised that he would return to his best.

Grealish was working his socks off in pre-season but unfortunately for the three-time Premier League champions, his efforts went to waste as he started just 15 games in all competitions during the 2024/2025 season.

In the following campaign, regular football is a must for the former Aston Villa winger as he is in the prime of his career.

Grealish could be available for £38 million or even £43 million in the summer, as City could allow suitors to sign him at a cut-price fee.

Whether Grealish takes Gary Neville’s advice and leaves Manchester City is a story that seems likely to dominate the headlines in the next few days, weeks and months.
