The Green Bay Packers revealed a surprise medical issue for one of their key starters on defense. Medical information can be hard to come by in the spring, as teams don’t have to reveal the true nature of an injury until they release their injury report for Week 1.
Per Rob Demovsky of ESPN, the Packers had Christian Watson, Collin Oliver, Nesta Jade Silvera, John FitzPatrick, and Warren Brinson in the “rehab” group during Tuesday’s voluntary practice.

Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark revealed a surprise surgery to the media after practice. He had foot surgery in January due to an issue that came up in Green Bay’s 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 in Brazil.
“Packers DT Kenny Clark said he underwent foot surgery in January for a bunion/bone spurs,” Demovsky posted on X. “He spent a good chunk of last season on the injury report because of a toe injury. Said it initially happened in the season opener in Brazil.”

Clark was asked if the turf at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo was the case of the surgery.
“I ain’t gonna answer that question,” Clark said via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. “Last time I got all the Brazilians on me.”

Despite the injury, Clark started in all 17 games for Green Bay last year. He recorded 37 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, two passes defensed, and two recovered fumbles.
The Packers hope Clark will get back to the player he was when he made the Pro Bowl in 2023 when he registered 7.5 sacks. The hurt toe no doubt led to Clark’s worst sack production since 2020, when he recorded two sacks.
