Everton have been making contact with a number of clubs both domestically and overseas with the summer transfer window now officially open.
The Toffees are trying to sign Manchester City defender John Stones and we understand the 31-year-old is keen on a return to Merseyside.
David Moyes is also eyeing Sunderland’s Trai Hume, with the squad in need of another full-back following Ashley Young’s exit.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison continues to be linked with a return to Goodison Park, however, that deal looks off the table at present.
Now, it’s just surfaced that Spurs could hijack a deal to sign one of Everton’s rumoured targets.

Tottenham Hotspur confident they can sign Everton target Angel Gomes
Everton have been tracking Lille and England midfielder Angel Gomes for some time, dating back to the winter transfer window.
The 24-year-old is considered ‘one of the best’ midfielders in Europe, according to French football expert Julien Laurens (per BBC Sport).
It was recently reported that Moyes was preparing a contract offer to Gomes after he confirmed he would be leaving Lille at the end of the season.

The former Manchester United wonderkid is set to become a free agent, and it appeared as though the Toffees were well placed to land his signature.
However, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Tottenham have now ‘grown in confidence’ that they can get a deal done to sign Angel Gomes.
“Gomes is another possibility, and Tottenham have made an offer,” Jacobs revealed.
“What I’ve heard in the last kind of 48 hours is that Tottenham have grown in confidence that their offer might be accepted.”
Everton could turn their focus to Mohamed Diomande
With Spurs now advancing their interest in Gomes and submitting a contract offer, it looks like Everton are set to miss out and will have to look elsewhere.
Moyes could turn his attention to Rangers’ Mohamed Diomande, who has enjoyed a productive season in Scotland.
The 23-year-old has registered 15 goal contributions from midfield and can operate in a number of different positions.
The Gers are desperate to retain Diomande’s signature and would command a sizable fee if they were to sanction his sale, having paid around £4m last summer.
Another option for Everton is Man City’s James McAtee, although he is a more forward-thinking player compared to Gomes and Diomande.
