Phoenix Suns fans are still reeling from the team's disappointing performance this past season. After being swept out of the NBA Playoffs in 2024, many hoped they would come back with a chip on their shoulder.
That didn't happen, however, as the Suns went in the opposite direction. They went 36-46 and missed out on the playoffs entirely, finishing as the No. 11 seed in the Western Conference.
LeBron James sends message to Steve Nash following announcement
Gone are the days of Steve Nash willing his team to playoff wins. Nash helped revolutionize the game with Mike D'Antoni's pace-and-space style of play, using the pick-and-roll early and often in offensive sets.
Nash is one of the greatest minds to have ever played the game of basketball. So, when he and LeBron James teamed up for a podcast titled "Mind the Game," people listened—a lot of people, 16 million and counting. However, ESPN's Brian Windhorst was skeptical that a podcast discussing the X's and O's of the game, rather than drama and headlines, would be popular.
Following the show's success, the podcast's X.com page sent an announcement. "We're not done yet," the post read. That was coupled with a message from James to Nash.
"Long ways from being done!! Sucks they have to listen to two guys who know nothing about basketball talk about basketball! Sorry @SteveNash," James posted on X.
While James has become a polarizing player over the years, his mind for the game and pedigree he brings in terms of basketball discussion are matched by very few. However, Nash fits the mold.
With James' career likely nearing its end at age 40, being on a podcast with Nash full-time after he calls it quits would be a great way to ride off into the sunset.
