At 40 years old, LeBron James is not afraid to step up and speak out to those who question his actions. In the case of NBA analyst Brian Windhorst, he found himself in James' crosshairs yet again, as the latest subject of his post.

The post was a response to a video posted on the 'Mind the Game' account, which featured a video mocking Windhorst for his comments talking down on the podcast.
James, 40, launched the 'Mind the Game' podcast in May of 2024 alongside his fellow NBA colleague, JJ Redick. The idea was to offer the fans a unique perspective on the game, where the two friends could discuss Xs and Os in a purely uplifting way.
When Redick became head coach of the Lakes that summer, Steve Nash stepped in and took his place, and he has been doing episodes with him ever since. Despite the lack of drama or intrigue with their work, the podcast has been doing well, with up to 16 million views and counting. It's reached the top 10 in trending. This summer, the two have gone viral with their exchanges, and they are using the moment to take a victory lap over one of their loudest doubters.
At the time, Windhorst was one of many expressing doubts over LeBron's take on NBA media and podcasting. According to James, coverage of the game should be all about celebrating the athletes and appreciating their games instead of focusing so much on the areas where they fall short. He also likes to avoid unnecessary drama or pressure by fishing for storylines or being too overall critical.
Conversely, the modern NBA media likes to spin all kinds of stories by going beyond basketball to expose someone's leadership and the relationships within the organization. In the world of clickbait news and over-dramatization, LeBron wanted to give the purest hoops fans a way to appreciate and engage with the game in a way that's free from the antics of television. With 'Mind the Game LeBron gets to change the space with his work and expose countless people to a new form of NBA coverage.
At the same time, he also gets to get even with his haters by telling his side of the story and showing off his brilliant basketball mind to the world. Many, like Windhorst, doubted that LeBron would be successful in the podcast space, but James called out Windy in particular due to their special history that goes back years.
