Manchester United could weigh in on a move for Pervis Estupinan ahead of the summer, with the Brighton star’s profile seen as suitable for Ruben Amorim’s style.
According to Fichajes, Pervis Estupinan has been linked with a move to Manchester United, as Ruben Amorim could eye further reinforcements at the back. Brighton considers the Ecuadorian as a key member of their squad, and to sell him they would demand a significant fee.
Manchester United are moving with pace in the market, as some of their work has indicated a signal of intent from the club. They have already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha to bolster their attacking setup, while the club are ready to open talks for Bryan Mbeumo to further strengthen their frontline.
Ruben Amorim wants the right profiles that suit the system he intends to play ahead of the new season. The Portuguese manager is also ready to focus on further strengthening his backline, as a new left-back could be on the cards.
The idea might not seem far-fetched, considering they were recently linked with Antonee Robinson as a target for the left-back position. Now they are linked with Pervis Estupinan as an option for the role, as the 27-year-old South American does pack plenty of experience playing at the top level.
He has been a key member of Brighton since joining them from Villarreal, as the Seagulls are expected to demand a significant fee to sell. Manchester United have not made any approach so far, though they could further their interest if there’s a consensus in the background over pursuing the 27-year-old South American.
Should Manchester United chase Pervis Estupinan?
Manchester United are well-stocked in the left-back area, which under Amorim is interpreted more as a wing-back role. The club did sign Patrick Dorgu in January from Lecce, with the Dane proving to be mildly successful in his spell so far.
Moreover, they also have Luke Shaw fit and playing minutes, as he too could be a solid enough option for Amorim to start the new season. Given some reports have stated the club cannot spend lavishly, they might be better off focusing on other areas than on the left-back role, as they seem to have good enough players in the position as things stand.
