Packers motivated by three straight losses to end 2024 season

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The attitude around the Packers this offseason appears to be much different than it was a year ago.

After the 2023 season, there seemed to be plenty of optimism after a hot finish to that year highlighted by an upset win in the Wild Card round in Dallas.

Entering this year, there is a different level of motivation following 3 straight losses to end the 2024 season, including the 22-10 loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round.

“I still got vinegar in my mouth,” cornerback Keisean Nixon said. “I hate losing. I’m a competitor, ultimate competitor at that. I’m pissed off for greatness. That’s just what it is. We’re going to come to play this year. I just hope everyone else in the league is ready because we’re ready.”

“It’s not just the Eagles game,” offensive tackle Zach Tom said. “I don’t think we ended the season how we wanted to at all. It’s definitely a bad taste in our mouths. We’re ready to get back out there, back out there for camp, ready to get to the season, ready for the Lions week 1 because that’s a team we gotta get back to. Yeah, absolutely, there’s definitely a bad taste in the mouth.”

Tom is showing just how motivated he is by attending the team’s voluntary offseason team activities. The offensive tackle is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and the team and his agent could be involved in contract extension negotiations.

“I don’t really think it’ll do me any good to sit out,” Tom said. “I’m trying not to worry about the contract situation. I’m just trying to do what’s best for the team. Being here with the guys, I think that’s worth a lot more. The contract situation will take care of itself. I’m just here working, grinding with the guys. I mean, if I wasn’t here I’d probably be somewhere not doing anything. I don’t know. I wanna be here obviously.”
