A tornado touched down in Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday as severe thunderstorms ripped through the area. The Truman Sports Complex, which houses both the Royals and Chiefs, was one spot affected.
Video of Kauffman Stadium produced an eerie scene as the storm made its way past the venue. Debris floated across the dark skies with only the sound of sirens being heard in the distance.
Kansas City metro was hit with tornado, flash flood, and thunderstorm warnings throughout the afternoon. Locals captured footage of the dangerous conditions to post on social media.

The images of the storm forming and ominously moving across the sky was like something out of a horror film. Some a bit further from immediate danger enjoyed the scenes from their front yards. Even those unable to get a real glimpse of the tornado were in awe.

The Kansas City Royals were not in town Tuesday, so they remained unaffected by the tornado in terms of scheduling. Instead, they played across the state in St. Louis.
The severe weather was the latest to impact the Midwest this summer. Just two weeks prior, violent tornadoes ripped through areas of Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado.
Then last weekend, Austin was met with a massive hailstorm that destroyed the batter’s eye at Disch-Falk Field, home of the Texas Longhorns, ahead of an NCAA Regional.
This particular storm affected areas in Kansas and Oklahoma, too, where flooding stranded a number of people in their cars. Kansas City metro appeared to skirt some of those major issues.
