Bruno Fernandes’decision is the total opposite to Jadon Sancho, it perfectly encapsulates how fans feel about them both

The transfer window is underway already and there has been largely positive news for Manchester United already.

It’s early June and Manchester United have already clinched one transfer, landing Matheus Cunha, and are in pole position to sign Bryan Mbeumo.

With everything going so well, United fans were worried bad news was coming amid Bruno Fernandes‘ negotiations with Al-Hilal.

Thankfully Bruno Fernandes made the decision to stay put, committing to staying at Manchester United despite the huge riches on offer from the Saudi Pro League club.

One piece of bad news did emerge however. Chelsea decided not to activate Jadon Sancho’s £25 million clause, paying £5 million to send him back to Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes’ decision compared to Jadon Sancho

Bruno Fernandes spoke to the Portuguese media about his decision, admitting he was more motivated to play at a high level than make a financially motivated decision.

He said: “It would have been easy to move there. I know the Portuguese players there very well. But I want to play at the highest level and compete for major titles. I can do that, and I still want to. I’m very passionate about football.”

It’s quite different to Jadon Sancho, who was seen happily celebrating in the Chelsea dressing room after winning the Europa Conference League Final.

Sancho turned his back on running it back with Chelsea. He did not wish to drop his wage demands, and Chelsea pulled the plug on the deal.

Even faced with an uncertain future, unwanted at Manchester United, Sancho put money first instead of football.

It’s the total opposite to Bruno Fernandes, who put money to one side, focusing on his preferred club instead.

Fan sentiments to Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho

This decision shows why Bruno Fernandes is so popular with Manchester United supporters, with fans welcoming his decision to stay.

Jadon Sancho’s financially motivated decision to blow up his move with Chelsea brought about a totally different response.

Fans were exasperated with Sancho’s decision, and conversation has even turned to whether it is financially viable to terminate his contract.

United fans had high hopes for Sancho, but his performances on the pitch have always lacked conviction, and failed to excite fans, and show that he had the fight or personality to play for the club.

Fernandes has that in spades. He has earned the right to go and chase trophies elsewhere, or take a big pay day, and he wants to stick around.

The Manchester United captaincy means a lot to him. Sancho meanwhile would never get near the armband.
