Man Utd are in talks to sign Bryan Mbuemo from Brentford in the summer transfer window.
It is a huge endorsement for the Ruben Amorim project and evidence that United are still a huge draw for many players, even after they recorded their lowest finish in Premier League history. Amorim has made it a priority to add goals to his side this summer, Cunha and Mbeuma netted 35 goals between them in the league this past season, United managed just 44.
Those two additions should be enough to significantly bolster their attacking threat, while there is also still interest in adding a natural goalscorer to the forward line. Amorim wants to sign players who are already proven in the Premier League as he looks to improve the fitness of his side, though they might need to look overseas in that department after they missed out on Liam Delap.

Cunha and Mbeumo's arrivals will open the door for several summer exits, with United hoping to sell Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony in the coming months. They would also be open to any serious offers for Rasmus Hojlund. Even if they were all to leave, there would still be plenty of competition in the forward line, and the summer arrivals could force a teammate into a role change.
Amad Diallo could be set for position change
Manchester United will play far fewer competitive matches next season after their failure to qualify for Europe, which should mean less rotation and more consistency with their starting line up. This will no doubt be impacted by the occasional injury and suspension, but Ruben Amorim is set to use the summer as an opportunity to trim the fat on his squad and streamline his side.
When everyone is fully fit, the idea will be for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to play behind a striker, which could mean reduced playing time for others. Bruno Fernandes would likely drop into a more recognised central midfield role, while Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee could predominately feature from the bench.
The elephant in the room is Amad Diallo. He was a leading contender for the club's Player of the Year award before he suffered an injury setback and clearly has a lot more to offer under Amorim. If they had more matches to play, there would be greater rotation in the forward line, but next season he could potentially suffer from the two summer arrivals.
That is unless he changes position. Amad might be better as an attacking midfielder, but his immediate future could be in right wing-back role, an area that is still up for grabs in the starting line up. Diogo Dalot is a trusted, but limited, option there and Amorim still wants to strengthen out wide this summer. United were interested in Geovany Quenda before he moved to Chelsea and were nowhere to be seen as Jeremie Frimpong moved to Liverpool.
A move for Wolves captain Nelson Semedo on a free transfer could be a smart move at the end of the month, though perhaps the most logical decision would be to give Amad a chance in the role instead. In six starts as a wing-back last season, he notched three goals and four assists and there is clearly value in having another attack-minded player in the line up for those matches when there will be an onus on United to breakdown their opponents.
Amad might only be a backup option in attack, but he could become their new star on the right.
