Liverpool's transfer plans for the rest of the summer will reportedly depend on how much the Reds can generate through player sales. They have already made a bold start to the window by firming up their interest in Bayer Leverkusen forward Florian Wirtz. Talks are still ongoing at club level but the 22-year-old is thought to be keen on moving to Anfield.
The move will see Liverpool pay a club-record transfer fee, having reportedly made an offer in the region of £105million. Bayer Leverkusen are thought to be holding out for around £120m, according to Sky Sports. While a breakthrough is yet to be reached, the move is widely expected to go ahead before the start of next season.
Liverpool have also been linked with a £45m swoop for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez, who has impressed for the Cherries in the Premier League. However, any further moves will reportedly be placed on hold until extra funds have been raised.
Further incomings will be 'heavily influenced' by player departures, according to The Athletic, with Darwin Nunez among those who could leave. Liverpool expect to generate 'significant funds' by selling the forward after the signings of Wirtz and Kerkez.
Clubs in Saudi Arabia continue to be linked with Nunez, who has struggled to live up to expectations since joining Liverpool from Benfica three years ago.
There is also said to be 'uncertainty' over the future of Luis Diaz, who is said to be attracting interest from Barcelona and Al-Nassr. He remains tied down until 2027 but could reportedly be sold to make room for new arrivals.
The report adds that Kostas Tsimikas would also be likely to depart if Kerkez joins, given that such a move would render him surplus to requirements. Tyler Morton, Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams are listed among the other players expected to leave.
Some fringe players, such as Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah, could reportedly push for exits in order to play regular football elsewhere. Ben Doak and Stefan Bajcetic, meanwhile, are thought to be interesting several clubs and may also depart.
Liverpool have already raised a decent chunk of money by selling Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher. The former joined Real Madrid, who paid £10m to sign him before the expiry of his contract ahead of the Club World Cup.
Kelleher's exit was officially confirmed on Tuesday, with the Irishman joining Brentford in a deal worth around £18m. He was desperate to leave Anfield and join a team where he would be the first-choice goalkeeper after years of limited minutes.
