Packers News: PFF’s No. 3 Right Tackle Zach Tom Thinks He Can Be the Best in that Position,…

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur made it known that they are not changing Zach Tom’s position.

“Yeah, I think that’s the plan, absolutely,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

“That’s where he’s kind of found his home, but I think what’s great about him is if you do have something that happens, it gives you some flexibility up front.”

That’s just one of the two things that the 26-year-old needs as he eyes to get better while analysts thinks he is among those to watch out for in 2025.

Tom, now entering his fourth season, was ranked third overall by Pro Football Focus among all rights tackles in the league. He is in ninth spot among all offensive tackles.

The analytics company wrote:

Tom has gradually improved during his three seasons in the league. He ranked 40th with a 68.3 PFF overall grade as a rookie, improved to 15th with a 79.7 PFF overall grade in 2023 and finished sixth with an 85.8 PFF overall grade in 2024.

His 87.8 PFF run-blocking grade this past season ranked third among all offensive tackles. The Wake Forest product got off to a hot start in pass protection in 2024, not allowing a single pressure in four of his first six games.

Zach Tom thinks he’s better than #3 but . .

The Wake Forest stand out knows he can get better and he is targeting that no. 1 spot. However, he knows that it will not come to him.

There is something he needs to achieve first – to become consistent. He was asked by reporters how far he is to becoming the best and he answered straight up “not far at all.”

“I’ve just got to hone in on my technique, being consistent in that, because I think when I’m at my best, I’m the best in the league,” he said.

“But I’ve just got to be able to do that more consistently than I think I have.”
