PSG could force Milos Kerkez rethink for Liverpool as transfer talks open

Liverpool is gearing up for a potentially bustling summer transfer window. After only adding Federico Chiesa to their ranks last year, this summer is set to bring more squad changes.

Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili will complete his move from Valencia after a deal was agreed last year, while Jeremie Frimpong has already been confirmed as Liverpool's first new signing this summer. The right-back has made the switch from Bayer Leverkusen after Liverpool met his $40 million release clause.

Speculation in recent weeks has largely focused on Florian Wirtz. Liverpool has shown interest in the Leverkusen midfielder and continues negotiations with the Bundesliga side after a $147M offer was turned down.

The left-back position could also see a new addition at Anfield this summer. Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez is reportedly on Liverpool's radar, with an estimated value of around $61M.

Bournemouth, however, is facing potential departures of several key players this summer, particularly in defense.

Dean Huijsen has already departed the Cherries to join Real Madrid, and now another defender could be on his way out of the Vitality Stadium.

Fabrizio Romano has reported on X that Paris Saint-Germain has initiated talks with Bournemouth over the signing of Illia Zabarnyi.

The Cherries are now facing the potential loss of two key center-backs, not to mention the possible departure of Kerkez.

How far Liverpool will go in its efforts to sign Kerkez this summer is yet to be determined, although it may well find the door closed on it in any case. If Bournemouth were to approve Zabarnyi's exit, it's plausible to suggest that they may be reluctant to lose another top defender in the same transfer window.

PSG is said to have entered talks for Illia Zabarnyi, which could pose a problem for Liverpool

Such a scenario could leave Liverpool pondering its left-back options for the upcoming season.

Ajax's Jorrel Hato has also been loosely associated with a move to Anfield this summer, joining Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas as potential left-back choices.

Liverpool.com says: Hopefully Liverpool already has the wheels in motion for a move for Kerkez. If not, PSG's interest in Zabarnyi could pose an issue.

You certainly couldn't blame Bournemouth if it decided it didn't want to lose three key defenders in one window, so the Reds may well have to get a move on and get Kerkez signed before the Cherries decide to close the door on a transfer.
