Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes has reportedly rejected a huge offer from Al Hilal. The reported offer was a big £700,000 per week. Also, with possible total earnings of £65 million per year with all bonuses and perks included. He would have also enjoyed luxury accommodation, first-class travel, and signing-on fees. But, he decided to stay loyal to Manchester United.
Al Hilal is one of the biggest clubs in Saudi Arabia. They have a team of football director Michy Batshuayi and recruiting specialist Ralf Rangnick. They have made it their mission to sign European players with huge deals.
Fernandes’s case is part of a larger intent to bring a big European name to the Middle East. Despite the huge offer, he has decided to turn down the deal and make it clear that his future lies in Europe. He remains focused on performing at the highest level. He wants to help the Red Devils return to winning ways under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
A Big Boost for Utd and Their Fans
For the Man Utd fans, Fernandes’ decision is a big relief. He left Sporting Lisbon for Utd in 2020, he has been a star player for the club since. His input in leadership, vision, and creativity, particularly during some worrying and unsettling moments, has contributed greatly to Utd. Now, Amorim looks to rebuild after a poor Premier League campaign.
His call to reject the deal confirms he wants to play elite football. While the door still remains open for a potential move to within Europe. But, the fact that he rejected money like this speaks volumes to his mindset. For now, he will continue to wear the red shirt.
