West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus has emerged as a target for Chelsea this summer.

In order to make way for incomings, West Ham may have to part ways with a handful of stars this summer, and Kudus is looking likely to be one.

The Senegalese international had a fairly underwhelming campaign at the London Stadium last time out and has already been linked with a move away, with Saudi clubs among those interested.

However, the latest update is in regard to Chelsea, with the Blues readying a transfer in the early stages of the transfer window.

Kudus has £85m release clause at West Ham

Kudus has bags of ability, but Irons supporters have found that to be a rare sighting ever since he made the move to West Ham.

Via a report in the Daily Mail (4 June), Chelsea want to sign Kudus before their Club World Cup campaign starts on 16 June, though his £85million release clause isn’t active until July.

Taking that into account, Enzo Maresca’s side are likely looking at striking to seal a cut-price deal to sign the Hammers man this summer.

West Ham could look to sell Kudus this summer

West Ham need to recruit well this summer, and in order to do that, they may need to sanction at least one big-money exit from the London Stadium.

Given the lack of contributions from Kudus in the last season, and the likely inflated pricetag, his sale may make the most sense as the Irons look to right their wrongs from the previous campaign.

The addition of a new number nine will be the priority, amid links to Davie Selkie, though Graham Potter will be keen to bolster his squad in any position that becomes available.

These next few months are going to play a deciding role for the Hammers in terms of the success that they can find next season, and it is crucial that they get the big decisions right.
