'The priority is': Man Utd's Christian Eriksen has just made his future plans clear amid…

Wrexham have been linked with interest in Christian Eriksen this week, and the player has now spoken out.

It’s easy to forget that Wrexham were in the National League just two years ago and are now being linked with a top-quality Premier League midfielder who has excelled with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Interest in Eriksen was revealed earlier this week, with it suggested that ‘Parky is interested in signing Christian Eriksen’.

The Dane, who is set to leave Man Utd on a free transfer at the end of this month, is currently taking home £150,000-a-week, 10 times more than the Red Dragons’ current highest earner.

Sam Smith is among those who would benefit from Eriksen joining Wrexham this summer, and the player has now commented on his future.

Christian Eriksen on his future amid Wrexham transfer links

After winning the Serie A with Inter Milan, Eriksen returned to England with Brentford before securing a move to Manchester United in the summer of 2022.

He’s since made 107 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring eight goals and providing 19 assists in said ties.

Now, the 33-year-old, speaking to TV 2 Sport, has commented on his future plans and while he did not rule out staying in England, saying ‘never say never’, he did state that his priority is to move outside of the country.

He said: “I got it sent to me from someone who asked if I should return to OB. My good agent has also been out and about saying that I shouldn’t. It’s the football rumor mill. I hope no one has put money on it happening now, because then they’ll lose.

“Right now there is nothing. There is interest all around, but there is nothing that I am close to signing. My focus will be to play international matches and then have a good summer holiday. Then we will see how long the holiday will be.

“I would rather get away from the Premier League. I feel I have had my turn in the Premier League, so I am looking outside the English borders.

“It’s been a great place for me and my family, and we’ve been there for many years. When I moved from Tottenham to Inter, it wasn’t the plan for me to go back to England. I’ve been there for three and a half years again since then, so you can never say never, but the priority is for me to leave.”

Wrexham tracking another Premier League midfielder

It remains to be seen if Parkinson could convince Eriksen to remain in the UK and drop down to the Championship.

The fact that such a deal even has a tiny possibility of happening shows just how crazy Wrexham’s rise has been.

But regardless, the club have more Premier League-level targets for the 2025 summer transfer.

The latest of which emerged late on June 3, with it reported that Wrexham are interested in Tommy Doyle of Wolverhampton Wanderers, who is thought to have an asking price of around £3m.
