'Soon': Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool could sign £45m player after next round of talks

Liverpool have already been one of the busiest teams in the 2025-26 transfer window, with Jeremie Frimpong likely the first of many to arrive in Merseyside.

The Anfield outfit are coming off the back of an impressive season where Arne Slot managed to bring the Premier League title home at the first time of asking.

Liverpool have been one of the most dominant teams in England this season, and while it’s unknown whether Frimpong will be able to fill the void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold, his attitude and numbers speak for themselves.

And, even though the transfer window isn’t fully open yet, it seems like Slot is getting his business done early.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Milos Kerkez’s Liverpool move is close to completion

Milos Kerkez is someone who has been linked with Liverpool ever since it was evident that Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas weren’t at the races this season.

Left-back was one of the Reds’ worst areas in their squad last term, and at the moment, Kerkez looks to be the man to replace the aforementioned duo.

And, as per a new report from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, it seems that a deal is edging closer each day.

Romano reports that Kerkez’s personal terms have been ‘in place’ since last week and that it should only take one more round of talks to ‘get it over the line.’

Milos Kerkez is the perfect Andy Robertson replacement

Robertson has been a more than solid choice at left-back for Liverpool over the last few years.

In fact, there have even been times when the Scotsman has been highly regarded as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League.

He was fast, could ping a beautiful ball into the box and was hardly ever beaten in one-on-one situations.

Over the last season or so, however, Robertson’s form has dropped off somewhat, with that position finding itself rather high on Slot’s priority list to reinforce.

And, with the deal for Kerkez now edging closer, it’s clear to see why Liverpool believe he’s the ideal successor.

Not only is he fast, but he also has a keen eye for goal, and the fact that he’s only 22 means that there is plenty of room for him to grow.

Indeed, nothing is confirmed just yet, but at the moment, a deal seems closer to being done rather than falling through.
