*LIVERPOOL*have confirmed the departure of Caoimhin Kelleher to Premier League side Brentford in deal that could bring in £18m.
Kelleher, who has been with the club for the past 10 years, was approaching the final 12 months of his contract and had made clear his intention to leave this summer in search of regular first-team football having been understudy to Alisson Becker. He was still able to total 67 appearances during his time in the senior squad.
With a number of clubs interested, Brentford have officially won the race and Caoimhin Kelleher has spoken to Brentford having completed his £18m transfer from Liverpool this week.
Now, he’s been confident he’s good enough to be a leading goalkeeper for some time, so this first comment is particularly cutting: “I’m buzzing, I’m really happy to be here,” said the 26-year-old.
“I don’t think it was very difficult for me to leave [Liverpool]. I felt for my own career that the time was right for me to go, to be a no.1 and to play every week.
“I heard of some interest a number of weeks ago. Once I knew Brentford was in for me, it was definitely one I was really excited about and wanted to do as quickly as possible.
“When I come back for pre-season, all focus will be on what I want to do next year; to work on certain goals and what I need to improve on, and to have a really good season for Brentford.”

Kelleher was impressive for Liverpool and to be honest, he was far too good to be sitting behind Allison any longer, so this move is a great one to make and it gives Liverpool a bit more money to splash.
