Jadon Sancho breaks silence after Chelsea pay £5m penalty to send him back to Man Utd

Jadon Sancho has broken his silence after it was revealed that Chelsea were paying £5m to send the forward back to Manchester United once his loan spell at Stamford Bridge comes to an end on June 30. The Englishman joined the Blues on loan at the start of the 2024/25 season after falling out of favour at Old Trafford. Following a very public falling out with former United boss Erik ten Hag, Sancho never apologised to the Dutchman and he was frozen out of the Red Devils' side. It was initially thought that his switch to Chelsea would lead to his permanent exit from Manchester.

An obligation to make the move permanent was included in the deal, with a fee rising to £25m, but the Blues have decided to back out of it, sending him back to his parent club. They've paid £5m to do so, a sign of how poorly his loan at Stamford Bridge went. Now, Sancho has addressed the situation himself.

Sancho On His Return to Manchester United

The Englishman has spoken out

Chelsea Jadon Sancho

Over the course of his time in London, Sancho experienced highs and lows. It wasn't an outright disaster, with the forward recording 15 goal contributions throughout the season. Still, there were also periods of struggle. He went 16 Premier League games with just one assist and was primarily coming off the bench by the time the campaign wrapped up. Enzo Maresca clearly wasn't convinced with him and now the decision to send him back to United and opt out of their obligation to buy him has been made.

Following news of his upcoming return to United, Sancho has broken his silence via a post on social media, with the quotes shared by GOAL. Taking to Instagram, he said:

"Grateful for the experience. Big love to everyone at Chelsea who made me feel at home - teammates, staff and the fans. Wishing the club all the best moving forward. Truly grateful, thank you, Blues."

Whether he'll be handed a chance at United or another loan spell is on the cards remains to be seen for the 25-year-old.
