Florian Wirtz’s eventual move to Liverpool is one of the worst-kept secrets in football at the moment.
Wirtz has chosen the Anfield outfit as the next place to advance his career, despite interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
The young German is regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in the world at the moment, and there’s no denying that his addition to Arne Slot’s team would improve their quality tenfold.

However, even though the deal is more or less guaranteed to go through, no final agreements have been reached yet, with Julian Nagelsmann sharing how Wirtz is handling the pressure.
Florian Wirtz isn’t bothered by the ongoing Liverpool transfer saga
At the moment, Wirtz is on international duty with Germany, and ahead of their game against Portugal on 4 June, Nagelsmann was asked about how the 22-year-old seems to be handling things.
“Flo will play! I don’t sense any fear of injury or anything with him. He’s a competitor who wants to play and be successful with us,” he said during his pre-match press conference via Bild.
“I didn’t notice that the situation was bothering him. I think it’s perfectly normal for every player, coach, whatever, to have one or two thoughts when a transfer is imminent. I think that’s part of it.”
Not only has Nagelsmann outlined that the German will be playing so Liverpool fans can get a taste of what they’re buying, but it also feels like he’s more or less confirmed that the transfer is going ahead after he said the transfer was “imminent.”

Florian Wirtz could be a Liverpool player sooner than many think
Wirtz’s future has been a hot topic at Liverpool ever since it was revealed that his services would be up for grabs this summer.
A plethora of teams have been linked with an interest, but in the end, it’s Liverpool who have come out on top.
Many different reports have been shared regarding what stage of the negotiations both parties are in, but after what Nagelsmann said, it feels like a move for Wirtz could be on the cards as soon as international duty is over.
Wirtz’s arrival will be a major statement of intent from Liverpool, showing their fellow title rivals that they mean business, especially with the numbers he put out during the 2024-25 campaign.
