Leeds United’s Junior Firpo and Aston Villa’s Àlex Moreno have both had spells at Real Betis in the past.
Junior Firpo’s contract at Leeds will expire at the end of this month while Aston Villa sent Moreno on loan to Nottingham Forest this season.
The pair’s futures need to be clarified and Real Betis have the duo on their agenda for this summer.
That’s according to Wednesday’s edition of Diario de Sevilla, which states Real Betis need a new left-back because Romain Perraud and Ricardo Rodríguez haven’t been convincing this season.
The newspaper reports the Andalusian club’s sporting leaders haven’t forgotten about the Dominican Republic international and Moreno.
Junior Firpo spent five years at Real Betis before leaving them for Barcelona in 2019. The latter sold him to Leeds in 2021. Moreno left the Spanish club for Aston Villa in January 2023.
Firpo renewing his contract with the Whites isn’t ruled out while both Lyon and AC Milan remain interested. Without a renewal, another club can sign him for free, and this makes it attractive for Real Betis.
Moreno, as per the newspaper, has a desire to return to his old club. His contract at Villa Park expires in 2026 but he has no future at Aston Villa as Unai Emery has left him out of his plans.
Diario de Sevilla state his sporting and personal situations – he married a woman from Sevilla last year – make it ‘ideal’ for him to return to Real Betis.
