Penny-Pinching-PIF are back! Newcastle United's 80% owners have untold wealth, but you'd never know it from the way they conduct transfers for the club.
Granted, PSR is likely the biggest contributing factor to this phenomenon, with the Newcastle board determined not to give the Premier League any ammunition to come at us, but as a fan, it's so frustrating when stories like this start doing the rounds.
Newcastle have reportedly held an interest in Fiorentina striker Moise Kean for months now. The former Everton forward has found his form again in Serie A, nabbing 25 goals in 44 games in the 2024/25 season.
However, despite the 25-year-old's clear quality and quite a reasonable release clause that would set Newcastle back just £42 million, it seems the Magpies would rather negotiate.

Is Moise Kean worth £42 million?
Newcastle and Napoli want Moise Kean but refuse to pay release clause
Calciomercato reports that Napoli and Newcastle are eyeing a move for Kean, but neither is willing to pay the £42m to bypass negotiations. It's fortunate for Newcastle that Napoli are just as tight as they are.
After already being beaten to four signings this summer, Newcastle really need to up their game and get a move on.
£42 million for a 25-year-old striker with the talent that Kean possesses is nothing these days, when you consider we were about to spend £60 million on Bryan Mbeumo.

Newcastle need to start making some positive moves
Kean may not be a high priority for Newcastle, which would explain the haggling. They won't want to blow a big stack of their budget on a player they only 'kind of' wanted.
Additionally, given that the story originates from Italy, there could be zero truth in it whatsoever.
Whatever the case, fans are desperate for some sign that Newcastle are actually trying to make signings this summer. Our inaction is becoming frustrating again, and it's only day four.
