Brentford are hoping to push Bryan Mbeumo’s price tag up via a bidding war despite his preference to join Man United, sources have told Football Insider.

Via a bombshell report from David Ornstein on Monday (2 June), Mbeumo has decided he wants to join United this summer, with the club now expected to open talks with the Bees.

However, Brentford are keen to get maximum value from selling their star man – with Newcastle and Arsenal also interested in his services.

It is believed they are bracing for an auction this summer to push his price tag up.

Brentford ready for Mbeumo auction this summer

The Cameroon international hit 20 goals and notched nine assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for Thomas Frank‘s side this term.

He has established himself as a proven Premier League player since being promoted to the top flight with Brentford in 2021.

Brentford are vulnerable to losing Mbeumo with the forward only effectively under contract at the club until June 2027.

The left-footer is expected to feature in a wide forward role for Amorim’s side if he joins – with a new centre-forward also on the agenda for Old Trafford chiefs.

Man United are struggling financially following their 15th-place finish but have already wrapped up a big-money deal for Matheus Cunha.

Man United could sell six first-team stars

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (24 May) that Bruno Fernandes could be the first of six first-team players to leave Man United.

Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, Josua Zirkzee, Casemiro and Andre Onana are among the other regular starters facing the axe.

United do not have European football of any kind ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
