This, perhaps coincidentally, prompted a response from Chelsea on X as they posted a statistic from the 2024/25 campaign highlighting that Caicedo had won more tackles than any player across the entire squad.

Only two midfielders across the entire division won more tackles than Caicedo in the Premier League last season, whilst he also weighed in with a goal and four assists to help Chelsea qualify for the Champions League.

Despite operating at right-back towards the end of the campaign, Blues boss Enzo Maresca has been on record saying Caicedo as one of the best defensive midfielder’s in the world.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Tottenham in April, Maresca said: "In this moment I think he is one of the best or the best defensive midfielders in the world. He is doing fantastic.

"The best thing about Moi is that everyday he is working serious, he is very humble, very kind, he is polite, he is a fantastic guy and I feel today was another great performance.”
