Tijjani Reijnders responds to claims of Manchester City agreement – Hasn’t spoken to Guardiola

Earlier today, we covered claims from Italy that Manchester City have reached an agreement in principle with AC Milan over a move for Tijjani Reijnders. It was also stated the Premier League club will pay €70m to the Serie A club for the midfielder’s services.

The Netherlands international is currently at his national team training camp preparing for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Finland and Malta.

Ahead of Wednesday’s training session, Voetbal Internatioanl caught up with the 26-year-old and asked him about the impending Manchester City move.

When responding to that, Reijnders stated he isn’t aware of any agreement between the two clubs for his transfer.

“The clubs are still in talks. For me, it’s a waiting game now,” he said.

VI pointed out the Italian club rejected Manchester City’s initial offer for the former AZ Alkmaar man. The Citizens will soon make a final offer [reports in Italy say they have already tabled it] of around €70m for the Dutchman.

The player states he’s hardly involved in the negotiations and has left his father, who is also his agent, to sort it out. The Milan star says he’s yet to hold talks with Pep Guardiola.

“I myself have been involved very little. My father does that. The Premier League is of course a great competition, that’s what you dream of as a little boy. I haven’t had any contact with Guardiola yet, that’s not on the agenda yet,” Reijnders explained.

The Dutch midfielder said he’d spoken to Manchester City’s Nathan Aké.

“Here at Oranje I’ve already talked to him briefly about it. He would like it if I came that way. But it’s not that far yet,” he added.
