Manchester United target Bryan Mbeumo will bring a much-needed boost of discipline and work ethic, according to his Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

The Danish manager has previously praised his forward as an exceptional professional, hinting at what Ruben Amorim could expect at Old Trafford. Mbeumo made his move to London in 2019 when Brentford signed him for a then-record fee of £5.8million.

He quickly proved his worth, netting 16 goals in his debut season, despite the Bees' disappointment in the Championship play-off final against Fulham. However, Brentford took redemption the following season as they secured their promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Mbeumo's performance improved significantly in the top flight, transitioning from wing-back to a talismanic winger. With the departure of striker Ivan Toney ahead of the 2024/25 season, Mbeumo stepped up to fill the void, scoring 20 Premier League goals and attracting attention from numerous clubs as the summer transfer window approaches.

The Athletic reports that Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo has set his sights on a summer switch to Manchester United, with the Red Devils set to enter talks for the winger who is also drawing interest from Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham. The 25-year-old forward is eager to showcase his goal-scoring talents at Old Trafford.

Reflecting on a period in 2023 when Mbeumo was out with an ankle injury, Brentford boss Thomas Frank highlighted the player's importance.

He said: "[Mbeumo] must be number two after Ivan [Toney] in terms of goals and assists, which is key," and praised his exceptional work rate. "His work rate for the team is incredible.

"You don't see many wingers who work so hard and mean so much. He's become the key man saying, 'Give me the ball, I'll take this.' Who will that man be now? We'll find out in the next weeks."

The Danish manager has consistently praised Mbeumo, especially following a hat-trick in a 4-1 FA Cup victory over Port Vale the previous year, stating: "It's brilliant, I must say," and acknowledging his standout performances in the Premier League.

"He came back from a minor injury. We knew that he wanted to play ready for Tuesday. And three quality finishes, very composed. We know that these FA Cup games are very difficult.

"Second half we started bad, they played a tiny bit more direct. They put us a little bit under pressure, but in the end we, and especially Bryan Mbeumo, showed our quality."
