West Ham’s Kudus on Chelsea Radar Following Sancho Snub

West Ham Transfers:

Chelsea’s decision to send Jadon Sancho packing back to Manchester United could be because they’ve decided to go for West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus instead.

This morning, The Mail Online are reporting that the West Londoners have shifted their focus to the Hammers wide-man, who is very much up for sale.

When Claret & Hugh spoke to a club insider yesterday, we were left in no doubt that Kudus was “top of the list” of players expected to leave the London Stadium this summer.

The 24-year-old Ghana international has an £85m release clause for Premier League clubs, which becomes active in July. Kudus had a similar clause last summer, which was valid for a two-week period at the end of June.

However, the reality is that Chelsea — or any other suitor — are unlikely to be required to meet the full valuation of West Ham’s buyout clause. Kudus’ departure from the Hammers in this transfer window is very much a matter of when, not if.

Kudus is has a ratcheted buyout clause meaning European clubs can trigger his exit with an £80m bid, but the fee rises to £120m for Saudi clubs.
