Barcelona are reportedly at risk of being sanctioned by UEFA after breaching financial rules for the second year in a row.
According to The Times, Barcelona, Chelsea and Aston Villa are all facing action against them, but the Catalans may be handed a tougher penalty as repeat offenders.
The report claims punishments could include a reduced squad limit for next season’s Champions League or potentially a points deduction. However, this seems unlikely with the report claiming it would be “unprecedented.”

The club subsequently appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) but lost and were warned further breaches could bring tougher measures.
“The CFCB . . . highlights that a similar breach by the club in the 2023-24 monitoring process would constitute a case of recidivism and would be addressed by the imposition of a harsher disciplinary measure on FC Barcelona,” the CAS ruling states.
Barca’s problem stems from the ways they have been trying to boost income to help alleviate their financial issues. The club have sold off broadcasting rights but UEFA say this can’t be accounted for as operating income.
